I'm Back!

Holy Smokes Batman! I can't believe I've been away for so long. Well, I think I'm finally in the groove and hope to be posting a lot more regularly. The knee is healing well. It's been 3 months since the ACL surgery and now it's just physical therapy. Physical therapy consists of me going to the gym. Should I repeat that? ME going to the gym. Yeah yeah, that's quite hysterical for those of you who know me. But I'm trying. The up side to the knee injury is that I can predict a rain storm. When it hurts, raining is coming.

Enough of me! I stumbled across some fun videos to watch. Enjoy!

MIA...ACL Surgery...Flame It!

Sorry I've been MIA for a while. Really there is no excuse other than me trying to get into the groove of my new job. Anywho, just when I feel as though I have things under control, I tore my ACL skiing a couple of weeks ago. I'm going in for surgery this Friday so I'll be MIA again. But I wanted to share some really cool work we (StruckAxiom) did for DreamWorks. Click here and have fun flaming your friends!

ChChChCh Changes

Well I'm into my first week at the new ad agency and it's been fabulous. There is so much to learn that I feel like a fish out of water but I'm slowly getting into the groove. Everyone's been extremely nice especially on the technology front. Don't get me wrong, I view myself as pretty tech savvy, but in terms of a PC and my beloved Blackberry. Well gang they threw me for a loop at the agency and gave me a new MacBook Pro and I switched over to an iPhone. Both are absolutely sick (meaning in a good way) and I'm beginning to love the features. But don't get me wrong, my first love was my Blackberry. I guess, new year, new career, new technology. C'est la vie!

New Year, New Career

Sorry that my posts have been sporadic. I'm finishing up my last week at my current position and will start a new career in a couple of weeks. I guess I shouldn't really say new career; I'm still in advertising but I'm going to be working in a different capacity. Once I start I'll give you the scoop. But until then I'm going to sign off for a bit. Nose to the grindstone for the rest of this week and then enjoying a week being a full-time mom!

Another Amazing Dance

Sorry if you're tired of my dance postings but I had to share this one from last night's So You Think You Can Dance. Perfectly paired couple + amazing choreography + fabulous song + to die for Audrey Hepburn inspired outfit = One of my favorite dances of the season (especially the lift at the end - see still shot below). Have a watch.

John Lennon was killed 29 years ago today in New York City when Mark David Chapman approached him and his wife Yoko One in front of their building and shot Lennon.

Here is one of my favorite songs from the Beatles...

League of Extraordinary Dancers

I'm a complete reality TV and TV competition junkie. For those of you who watched "So You Think You Can Dance," you may know what I'm about to share. Last night the amazing group, League of Extraordinary Dancers danced to The Vitamin String Quartet's Yellow. It was AMAZING. You wouldn't think that particular type of music would work with their dance technique, but it did, and it was GENIUS. Have a watch.

Remembrance

September 11 -- Still Flying
Remembering those that lost their lives and loved ones 8 years ago.

Prayer said by Pope Benedict XVI at Ground Zero in New York:
"O God of love, compassion, and healing, look on us, people of many different faiths and traditions, who gather today at this site, the scene of incredible violence and pain.

"We ask you in your goodness to give eternal light and peace to all who died here -- the heroic first responders: our firefighters, police officers, emergency service workers, and Port Authority personnel, along with all the innocent men and women who were victims of this tragedy simply because their work or service brought them here on September 11, 2001.

"We ask you, in your compassion to bring healing to those who, because of their presence here that day, suffer from injuries and illness. Heal, too, the pain of still-grieving families and all who lost loved ones in this tragedy. Give them strength to continue their lives with courage and hope.

"We are mindful as well of those who suffered death, injury, and loss on the same day at the Pentagon and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Our hearts are one with theirs as our prayer embraces their pain and suffering.

"God of peace, bring your peace to our violent world: peace in the hearts of all men and women and peace among the nations of the Earth. Turn to your way of love those whose hearts and minds are consumed with hatred.

"God of understanding, overwhelmed by the magnitude of this tragedy, we seek your light and guidance as we confront such terrible events. Grant that those whose lives were spared may live so that the lives lost here may not have been lost in vain. Comfort and console us, strengthen us in hope, and give us the wisdom and courage to work tirelessly for a world where true peace and love reign among nations and in the hearts of all."

MIA

Work has been rearing it's ugly head. So I'm sorry to say I will be MIA this week. Here is a photo of where I'd rather be. Did I tell you that B and I have decided that our next trip should be to Greece? Hopefully that's the case and I'll get to see this beautiful place in person!

LADIES HOME JOURNAL
Tonight is the first of two nights of my high school reunion. I dare not say which one it is but I know it will be a lot of fun. Here were the highlights of the year I graduated:

  • Super Bowl Camps - San Francisco (defeating Cincinnati)
  • World Series - Oakland A's (defeating San Francisco Giants)
  • NBA Champs - Detroit Pistons (defeating Los Angeles Lakers)
  • Cost of first class stamp - $0.25
  • Unemployment Rate - 5.3%
  • George Herbert Walker Bush inaugurated as 41st US President
  • Exxon Valdez sends 11 million gallons of crude oil into Alaska's Prince William Sound
  • US jury convicts Oliver North in Iran-Contra
  • Army Gen. Colin Powell is first black Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff
  • A San Francisco Bay area earthquake measuring 7.1 in magnitude, killed 67 and injured over 3,000. Over 100,000 buildings damaged or destroyed.
  • Tens of thousands of Chinese students take over Beijing's Tiananmen Square in rally for democracy. More than one million in Beijing demonstrate for democracy; chaos spreads across nation. Thousands killed in Tiananmen Square as Chinese leaders take hard line toward demonstrators

Aprons

For those of you who know me, you know how I love to wear aprons while I'm cooking and 9 out of 10 times I don't take the apron off even when I'm finished. There have been many a time when we are hosting a dinner party and I look down and see that I still have my apron on. Well, I think these are too lovely to take off : )

Taking a Break

There's been a ton of things going on this week, last week of baseball with games and practice all with and closing ceremonies at the end of this week, tennis lessons starting, applying for passports for W and J (more on that later...), birthday parties, of course my day job at the ad agency, and the list goes on. So I'm taking a break this week. This photo inspires me to slow down, yeah right! I hope with the end of baseball, next week will be a bit more manageable. Have a great one everyone!
