Tonight is the first of two nights of my high school reunion. I dare not say which one it is but I know it will be a lot of fun. Here were the highlights of the year I graduated:

- Wimbledon Women's Final was between Steffi Graf and Martina Navratilova (Graf won)
- Wimbledon's Men's Final was between Boris Becker and Stefan Edberg (Becker won)
- Super Bowl Camps - San Francisco (defeating Cincinnati)
- World Series - Oakland A's (defeating San Francisco Giants)
- NBA Champs - Detroit Pistons (defeating Los Angeles Lakers)
- Cost of first class stamp - $0.25
- Unemployment Rate - 5.3%
- George Herbert Walker Bush inaugurated as 41st US President
- Exxon Valdez sends 11 million gallons of crude oil into Alaska's Prince William Sound
- US jury convicts Oliver North in Iran-Contra
- Army Gen. Colin Powell is first black Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff
- A San Francisco Bay area earthquake measuring 7.1 in magnitude, killed 67 and injured over 3,000. Over 100,000 buildings damaged or destroyed.
- Tens of thousands of Chinese students take over Beijing's Tiananmen Square in rally for democracy. More than one million in Beijing demonstrate for democracy; chaos spreads across nation. Thousands killed in Tiananmen Square as Chinese leaders take hard line toward demonstrators
