What To Do?

I know at this time of year, calendars start filling up. That's why I'm posting this early this week. If you are looking for something to do this upcoming weekend, check out Nathan Florence's Gallery Opening. He's an amazing artist and such a great person all around! Perhaps I'll see you there!

Family Pictures

The Boys know that mom just wants one thing every November. That one thing is the annual family picture. It's the one time when we actually get a picture of all of us vs just me with The Boys or B and The Boys (one of us has to be taking the picture, right?). It's also a time when we get great candid and fun shots of The Boys, individually and together.

Kevin Lee has been taking our family pictures for almost every year for the last 6 years. He's amazing with the boys. They feel comfortable with him and he gets the best expressions! It's probably because he has two great kiddos of his own and knows all the tricks of the trade of being a parent. If you need a family portrait or shots of the kiddos (since it's been so long) give him a call or email. Kevin is great to work with and will customize your photo shoot depending on what you want. How great is that? I don't normally posts pictures of B and The Boys but I just had to. Don't be surprised if you see one of these on our holiday cards this year!

Food For Thought

Last week my darling friend A introduced me to Food For Thought (12640 Fort Street Draper). We met our other friend A for lunch (two A's and a K - haha) at this quaint and hidden treat. Well it was a hidden treat for me but no longer. I know I will go back again and again. One of the A's had her usual, quiche and soup (both looked amazing). The other A had a meatloaf panini sandwich. Talk about comfort food. I had a delicious salad with strawberries, saute mushrooms, almonds, and goat cheese. Mmmmmm. When it came to dessert they all looked amazing. We tried the Oreo Cake and Bread Pudding. So you can have really great bread pudding or one that will turn you off completely. Let me tell you, I will go back just for the bread pudding. It's really not fair to call it bread pudding since it's made of CROISSANTS!!! My mouth is watering just thinking about this little bit of heaven. I can't wait to go back.

On our way out I had to snap a shot of their counter. Too cute! I loved their gumball display so I incorporated it into my Halloween decor. I went to Orson Gygi and bought green, black, and white gumballs. I think it turned out great!

BTW, I found these spiders at Orson Gygi and insects that you grow in water. Let me tell you they grow VERY big.

Gourmandise - The Bakery

You know when you find a place with that special something? It might be the ambiance, the food, the service. Well, that place for me is Gourmandise, The Bakery (250 South 300 East). It has this sense about it. Like it's always been around, offering the same great food, like an old friend. The menu is vast and all around delicious. The current favorite is the Thursday special, grilled panni with brie, ham, dried cherries, apples, caramelized onions, with oil and vinegar. De-lish! And if you have room, well you HAVE to make room for the amazing desserts. I pick up a tiramisu for B every year for his birthday. It's a tradition now and one we both are not willing to break. So if you find yourself downtown around lunch time or need to bring something to a dinner party, you can't go wrong with Gourmandise.

That's Not Cool Mom

Since W goes to a private school, the only clothes he really needs is for Summer. During a recent shopping excursion I was picking out some t-shirts for W and I got my first ever, "That's not cool Mom" from W. I showed him some t-shirts I had picked out and they apparently were not cool. I guess when you turn 7 you know what's cool and I guess my "control" over W is slowly slipping away : ) So now when I look at clothes for him vs J I wear a different set of glasses, cool vs. cute. Well, I think this t-shirt is "cool" and I like the fact it's from a local.

I also LOVE this!

Go-To Store

Go-to store? Yup, you know, that certain store you go to when you need a present? Well, mine is Hip & Humble (1043 East 900 South). They have everything from fun kitchen gadget and bath goodies to fabulous jewelry and the hottest trends in fashion (clothes and accessories). I recently went there for a hostess gift and found these fun bird clips. No more "bag clips" for your chips. These are too cute!
