Children's Book: The Worrywarts

Last night at baseball I was talking to my friend S about her son E. She was telling me that he was worrying so much on the way to the game that he's sick. I then remembered a very funny book we have called The Worrywarts, by Pamela Duncan Edwards. It's a tale about Wombat, Weasel, and Woodchuck and how they conquer their fears as they head out for an afternoon of adventure. Sometimes when W gets into a worry funk I pull out this book to read and try to tell him to RELAX! Have a read and relax : )

David Wiesner

I LOVE to collect hard cover Children Books. "The Boys" know to treat them with kid-gloves - ha ha. Children Books have the most wonderful illustrations. One of my favorite is David Wiesner. We have a couple of his books: Tuesday and June 29, 1999. The next on my list to purchase is Flotsam - Winner of the 2007 Caldecott Medal. Similar to Tuesday, there are few to no words and the story is told through amazing illustrations.

Here is a summary of the book:
On a seemingly ordinary day at the beach, a budding young scientist makes a fabulous discovery. A barnacle-encrusted underwater camera has washed up on the shore, holding a reel of film of fantastical images that no human eye has seen. Moving cities, an octopus in a lounge chair, a clockwork fish. And yet, there is one more secret, even more astonishing than these surreal scenes: the camera has journeyed not only through the depths of the ocean but through the past, hiding in its last photo a visual timeline of children from around the world.
